Welcome to the Transitions Across the Lifespan lab (TALL) website!
Formerly known as the Development of Adolescent and Young Adult (DAYA) Lab and the STARR Lab (Study of Tennessee Adolescent Romantic Relationships), our research team has studied the development of romantic relationships and their effect on adolescent and young adult functioning. More recently, we have also studied other factors, including balance, associated with more successful transitions to college and emerging adulthood. Under the mentorship of Dr. Deborah Welsh, the Transitions Across the Lifespan lab is interested in the various transition periods that occur across the individual’s life trajectory and their impacts on the many aspects of development. Currently, the lab focuses on emerging adults’ transition to college and various factors that contribute to young people’s academic and relational success. We are also assessing the psychological mechanisms underlying the transition to retirement.
Dr. Welsh will be reviewing applications for the Fall 2023 semester.
